The Stone Building

Fleming Place, Dublin 4

The Stone Building in Dublin 4 is a two-storey structure with stone & brick external walls, on to which a three storey, partly self-contained modern building had previously been constructed. Keogan Architects were invited by our Clients, a Marketing Communications Company, to renovate the building to meet their needs.

Our solution was to strip out a lot of the inappropriate additions which had been made to the structure of the building over the years, and to make carefully considered “insertions”, principally in steel & glass, which would complement and contrast with the structure of the building. A double-height roof-lit circulation zone links the ground floor administrative offices with the first floor design studio and allows daylight down to the ground floor spaces. The walls to the Meeting Room and Director’s Offices are in frameless glazing to maintain the open and transparent character of the building.
